Description:
This unit extends the digital audio principles introduced in Tonmeister Studies and Digital Audio and Sampling Techniques. Students will undertake advanced digital recording, editing and mixing of sound recordings to produce a professional standing music production. ProTools HD and Control 24 will be extensively utilised in order to deliver automation principles, complex editing features, advanced plug-in usages, bounce to disk, multi-takes, multi-arrangements, power-user key commands, as well as, complex software and hardware routing. The Yamaha O2R 96 digital desk will be central in the delivery of recording and mixing practice. Recording techniques, mixing techniques, and, music production will continue throughout the semester. Developing critical hearing as it relates to music production will be introduced in this unit. Students will undertake extensive listening and analysis activities in order to enhance and refine the ‘musical ear’.
