This unit explores current theories of learning. It investigates the concept of documenting children's development and growth as a process of recording reflective observations that connect to planning. The unit explores a range of approaches to planning with a focus on a socio-cultural perspective. It provides students with a framework to critically analyse play-based curriculum designs, assess and interpret children’s development, and develop and evaluate inclusive current curricula that meet the needs of children and their families in differing community and socio-cultural settings.
