Description:
This unit covers knowledge and understanding of the growth and learning of young children aged 5-8 years. Theories of learning and development, and early childhood pedagogy will be critically examined in the context of effective early childhood practice. Skills will be developed in planning, implementing and evaluating experiences and environments appropriate to the early years of schooling. Practical experience in junior primary classrooms will enable links to be made between theory and practice.
