PHR3126 Philosophy of Mind

Description:

Do animals think? Could a computer ever be made to feel emotion? Do people have free will? These are the kinds of question addressed in contemporary philosophy of mind. This unit focuses on these questions and other relevant topics in the philosophy of mind. Topics include theories of the self and personal identity; the relation between mind and body; the nature of consciousness; and the role of society and language in shaping our minds.
