PHR4101 The Search for Meaning
SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ARTS

Description:
The theme of this unit is the search for ultimate meaning and purpose: including those questions most often taken to be crucial to human existence, such as the purposes of life, the possibilities within human nature, the causes and place in life of suffering and injustice. To examine this theme, students will be introduced to a variety of belief systems, with particular reference to those most pertinent to contemporary Australian society. Historical, sociological and philosophical approaches will be developed; with attention to questions of method.
