DIS5101 Historical and Sociological Perspectives on Disability
SCHOOL OF PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL SCIENCE
Credit Points: 15

Description:

There is great variation in the way in which Australians view disability and the manner in which services are provided for people with disabilities. This unit describes and explains those variations. In order to do this it considers disability within its social context by first describing the historical treatment of people with disabilities, both in Australia and in other countries. This will lead to an understanding of the concept of social deviance and the social roles into which people with disabilities are placed.
