GME5104 Geriatric Medicine 4: Clinical Management 1

Description:
Despite the uniqueness of some diseases in the geriatric age group the most common causes of admission to acute care facilities are those that afflict the general population. For example, coronary heart disease is still the major cause of death among older people. The management of these common conditions in this age group has many similarities to the general population but needs to be responsive to particular needs. The investigation, treatment and follow-up of the following diseases are studied: stroke/TIA, epilepsy, motor neurone disease peripheral neuropathy, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and lipid disorders.
