CSI4341 Systems and Database Design

Prerequisites:
CSI1241 Systems Analysis , or
CSI4201 Systems Analysis
 
Description:
Data analysis: entity relationship models and normalisation techniques. Database Administration, Database Security, Relational DBMSs, Object-Oriented Databases. Creation of database tables and indexes. Introduction to Object Query Language, usage of Standard Query Language, Data Definition Language and Data Manipulation Language, with techniques of Commit, Rollback and database component locking. Students enrolled in this unit may be required to pay a subscription for software licence fees to cover the provision of learning materials and software according to agreements made between the university and software vendors.
