MUE1005 Teaching Australian Music

Description:

In this unit, students will focus upon the rich resources of Australian music and musicians, as specified by the Western Australian Curriculum Framework. It will examine Australian music and its unique pedagogical implications across art music, folk, jazz, popular and world music genres, with particular regard to social and political context. Students will examine in detail performance practices associated with Australian music and their implications for the Post Compulsory Curriculum, and incorporation of Australian music at all levels within the curriculum including examining the potential for developing partnerships with the wider arts community in Western Australia.
