SCHOOL OF REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL STUDIES
Credit Points: 12
Prerequisites:
ERG1101 Literacies and Learners

Description:

This unit is the first unit in the area of English specialisation.  Whilst this unit builds on the socio-cultural and functional view of language and literacy developed in the first year unit, this unit particularly emphasises the developmental nature of language and literacy acquisition for children in years 1-3.  In this regard pre-service teachers will explore and analyse the theory and policy of literacy acquisition and how it translates into models of instruction, methodology and pragmatic techniques. In addition students will investigate the integrated nature and scope of language learning for individuals, small groups, whole class and special needs.
