Description:

This unit examines advanced systems software design and development techniques and the technologies used to support an open systems environment. These technologies will be presented from a theoretical and practical perspective. Students will design and develop applications using an object oriented language and tools incorporating the unified modeling language to support the concepts of object-oriented software design and programming. Graphical user interface and event driven programming, client-server based programming and network based programming will be examined in conjunction with emerging object oriented design and development techniques.

As this is online-directed study, students are required to have Internet access, download facilities and a word-processing package.
