Q70 / D79 Graduate Diploma of Science (Information Services)

INTRODUCTION

The Graduate Diploma of Science (Information Services) aims to produce graduates capable of filling senior roles in the information services, information brokerage, information management and knowledge management industries.  The course is designed to address market needs for professional information services staff with a broad range of high level skills in information services, information management and information technology.

 

The Graduate Diploma of Science (Information Services) is recognised as an exit point from the Master of Information Services.  In certain streams, students may exit the Graduate Diploma after twelve months of part-time study with a Graduate Certificate in Information Services.

 

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma are eligible for professional membership of one or more of the following professional associations, depending on their stream of study:

  • The Australian Library and Information Association;
  •  The Australian Society of Archivists;
  •  The Records Management Association of Australia.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The minimum admission requirement is the completion of a three-year tertiary qualification.  Special admission requirements are detailed under the individual streams below.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

This twelve-month course is available by full-time or part-time study on Mount Lawley campus or through on-line study.  Students MUST have access to a computer capable of accessing the Internet and Ecourse. Online students are not required to attend on campus for any part of the program.

 

COURSE STRUCTURE

The Graduate Diploma of Science (Information Services) is an eight unit, twelve month full-time award with exit points after four units and twelve months of part-time study (in certain streams).  The Graduate Diploma of Science (Information Services) may also be studied in part-time mode.

 

Students must select one of the following three streams.  Students must complete all units in the selected stream for the Graduate Diploma award.
