A54 Certificate II in Dance

INTRODUCTION
This course provides the career-minded dance student with specialised training in ballet and contemporary dance to complement intensive studies undertaken in private studios. It allows the student to work at a high level of achievement in dance while continuing formal secondary schooling. Ballet classes include specialist work in floor barre, barre and centre practice and alignment. Contemporary dance classes develop an increased vocabulary through floorwork, technical combinations and compositional elements.

The Certificate program is designed for those students who intend to audition for tertiary dance programs.

 

This VET course is offered by WAAPA as a Registered Training Organisation.
 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Audition. Normally students who audition for the Certificate must have passed the Elementary RAD or equivalent. Male students are encouraged to apply for audition if they have a lower level of dance training, but experience in related areas such as gymnastics. Information relating to audition requirements and procedures is available from WAAPA.


It is expected that applicants would normally have achieved a level of education equivalent to completion of Year 10.
 
SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A medical clearance certificate may be required.
 
COURSE LOCATION
This course is available on Mt Lawley Campus.
 
MODE OF STUDY
This course is available by Part-time mode.
 
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course is available in the following mode of delivery - On-campus.

Each year students take two sessions per week.
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

All units of study are full year units.
