A67 Certificate IV in Music | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
INTRODUCTION The Certificate IV in Music is designed for students of Contemporary, Classical and Jazz who wish to develop their skills in performance and widen their musical backgrounds.
On completion of the Certificate course, students may audition for other courses within the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
This VET course is offered by WAAPA as a Registered Training Organisation under the Australian Quality Training Framework. The Units of Competence from the nationally accredited Music (CUS01) Industry Training Package are clustered within the course delivery units. These delivery units form training in the industry areas of core studies, concert practice, ensemble skills, musicianship,, principal study and projects. |

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Students apply directly to the Academy for admission which is based on auditions and interviews normally held in November-December. Students are assessed on the following criteria: (i) school or post-secondary academic record; (ii) performance at an audition.
A minimum music standard equivalent to Grade VI practical and Grade IV theory (AMEB) is desirable. It is expected that applicants would normally have achieved a level of education equivalent to completion of year 10.

COURSE STRUCTURE All delivery units are full year units. The Certificate IV in Music at WAAPA achieves 14 Units of Competence from the Certificate level of the Music Industry Training Package (CUS01). These Units of Competence are clustered within the course delivery units of core studies, concert practice, ensemble skills, musicianship, principal study and projects. |
