799 / 057 Master of Medicine (Family Medicine)

The Master of Medicine (Family Medicine) is intended for general practitioners who are unable to leave their practices to pursue further studies.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The course is available off-campus through E-Central.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants with a recognised medical qualification will be eligible for admission.

 

 
Foundation Studies
FAM5101 Family Medicine: Practice and Principles 1 20 
FAM5102 Family Medicine: Practice and Principles 2 20 
FAM6101 Family Medicine: Principles of Applied Research 20 
FAM6201 Family Medicine: Applied Research Project 20 
 
Selected Studies
Students will complete four postgraduate units selected from one of the following areas:
 
Addiction Studies
Aviation Medicine
Health Promotion
Health Services Management
Occpational Medicine
Palliative Medicine
Sports Medicine
 
Electives
In addition, students will complete four postgraduate elective units selected from the following fields:
 
Addiction Studies
Aviation Medicine
Geriatric Medicine
Health Promotion
Health Services Management
Occupational Medicine
Palliative Medicine
Rehabilitation Medicine
Sports Medicine
 
Other elective units may be undertaken with the approval of the course coordinator.
 
A Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine can be awarded as an exit award upon completion of 6 of the 12 course units, including 4 foundation studies and 2 from slected studies or electives.
