ERG3210 Diagnosis and Intervention in the English Learning Area

Description:

Students do not undertake this unit if they have specialised in Literacy in their second year of study. The unit is an introduction to diverse needs teaching and learning in the area of literacy.  Students will explore the relationship between assessment, planning, intervention and reflection.  As part of this exploration students will examine a variety of assessment gathering tasks and tests to evaluate their ability to identify, monitor and provide evidence of literacy development from early childhood to adolescence.   In addition, intervention methodologies, strategies, and resources will be evaluated in order to inform teaching and plan for differentiated instruction appropriate to individual and whole groups needs.   Students will complete a case study using multiple methods of data collection in order to design an intervention program that meets and enhances the child’s language strengths and needs.
