ERS2102 The Social Construction of Scientific Knowledge

Description:

This unit provides an opportunity for students to develop knowledge and skills for teaching science to lower secondary level. Students will investigate the perspective of science and science education as a culturally constructed form of knowledge subject to social, historical and political pressures. This unit will emphasise group work and cooperative learning skills and place a focus on assessment and evaluation practices as tools to guide the planning of learning experiences. Concepts in the area of Energy and Beyond, to a lower secondary school level, will be covered. This unit is linked to work place practice and students will be required to link the theory from the unit to their observations and experiences in school settings.
