Description:

This unit investigates effective, meaningful Health and Physical Education (HPE) in the context of today’s schools, within a constructivist approach. An understanding of the holistic nature of health, of the socio-cultural influences on one’s health and of health issues that impact on the well-being of school and community members will be studied. Building on the Human Development and Learning Unit, students will extend their understanding of motor learning and skill acquisition. How students construct relevant personal meaning from movement experiences will be explored, through the medium of movement education, including dance.
