This unit prepares students to practice in a rural, regional, and remote context. It will identify the knowledge and skills that will assist professional social work practice in a resource scarce environment. The unit will look at two models and approaches to social work practice ie. a community development and group work. The unit will develop students’ knowledge and skills in managing effective task orientated groups, and implementing effective community development interventions. Students will identify the utilisation of communication mediums which can be utilised to enhance collective interventions in regional, rural and remote areas (eg video conferencing, communication technology, networking and forming partnerships). Students will examine creative and resourceful means of implementing collective intervention policies and practice to, mobilise services, obtaining resources, and advocate on behalf of others. | |||
