This unit will offer students the opportunity to explore the concept of human rights and how such a perspective can be used to inform the practice of a range of human service practitioners. This unit aims to develop in students a broad understanding of human rights with reference to both the International and Australian context. Students will explore the contested nature of human rights and the difficulties associated with defining human rights. This unit will enhance the students understanding of globalisation and economic rationalism and explore other important concepts such as rights, social justice, advocacy and social action from a critical perspective. | |||
