This unit introduces students to analysis of globalisation and global problems and ways in which social work may intervene and respond at both a local community level and an international global level. It has as its primary focus the development of an understanding of global forces as a structural determinant on the wellbeing of local communities and the methods and strategies by which social workers can intervene. It has a strong focus on social work practice as being progressive and activist orientated enacting a social change agenda, and working in partnership with disadvantaged communities both locally and internationally. | |||
