The Unit has been designed for students who will be undertaking careers which involve working with people in a service role ie educational, therapeutic, support (eg social work, teaching, nursing, personnel management). This role engages the service worker in a relationship with other people, the purpose of which is to bring about a positive change for the other person(s), ie increase learning, increase self competence, increase self understanding, increase general health and well being etc. An understanding of the nature of the change relationship between the worker and the service recipient(s) and an understanding of the change process is critical to effective practice as a service worker. | |||
