PPA1164 Practicum Experience 1
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 12

Description:
The Practicum Experience program is intended to ground student teachers’ learning in a learning community within an educational setting. It will enable them to conceptualise their teacher education program as occurring within kindergarten, preprimary, school and university settings. The Practicum Experience is designed to provide student teachers with an orientation to education from the perspective of an adult in that environment. In particular, student teachers will have a range of opportunities to observe, first hand, the roles of the teacher and the learning of children. Whilst in the educational setting student teachers will be expected to work together to undertake small investigations, to assist teachers and children, compile case studies, undertake minor teaching tasks, specific observations and other activities related to their own studies. As well, in Semester 2 students will undertake a formal two-week teaching practice.
