CDE4414 Counselling Skills for Educators

Description:
This unit specifically prepares educators to help students with their personal and career decision making problems in the school context. The pastoral care and counselling role of teachers is explored and the needed preliminary skills developed. A few selected counselling models (Egan Problem Solving and Queensland Guidance Tutoring Models) are presented and practiced. Community support services and resources are identified as an important aspect of the professional development of teachers with limited time and expertise in counselling serious problems.
