MAS2101 Communications and Culture

Description:
This unit introduces students to the main developments in the rise of modern mass media (such as newspapers, radio and television) and in modern communication technologies (such as print, photography, telegraphy, satellites and the Intenet). These developments are related historically and thematically to their impact on human interaction, perceptions of space and time, the formation of individual and national cultural identities and the relationship between the public, private and environmental spheres.
