In this unit students will focus on the need for a philosophy of music education and wide ranging content as a basis for curriculum design. Different philosophies and methodologies will be examined as issues pertaining to the nature of music as they relate to music education in the lower secondary school. The practical components of this will include studying aspects of secondary ensemble and choral conducting, instrumental repertoire, arranging jazz and popular music in the curriculum and the conducting of prepared works, as well as study of the Arts Outcomes and the Curriculum Framework. | |||
