NUT5101 Trends in Australian Nutritional Health

Description:
Current Australian documents which detail the food selection patterns and nutrient intakes of Australians will be examined. The content and data collection methodologies of these documents will be assessed in view of nationally recommended nutrient intakes and dietary guidelines. The major life-stages will form the focus for a review of present knowledge regarding nutrient requirements, metabolic pathways, nutrient and non-nutrient interactions, energy use, and lifestyle factors in relation to nutritional health. The major nutrition-related non-communicable diseases prevalent in Australian society will be examined within holistic models of health.
