EMT5001 Curriculum Perspectives: Algebra, Measurement and Space
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 15

Description:

This unit, for teachers who wish to re-train in the teaching of mathematics up to and including Year 10, will position lower secondary mathematics curricula against the essential upper school content knowledge necessary for good teaching. It thus also provides both a refresher and a consolidation of previously held mathematics skills. In this unit, Levels 6 to 8 of the Curriculum Framework in the clusters of Algebra, Measurement, and Space will be covered, specifically relating to concepts in algebraic functions, graph-sketching, and geometry. Students will be encouraged to reach the very highest mathematical level of which they are individually capable, while consolidating their appreciation of the Curriculum Framework in the late adolescent phase.
